Los Feliz Life Drawing Workshop

Each Monday and Thursday night and then on Saturday mornings a life drawing workshop is held in Los Feliz and I try to go when I can. Tonight I made it there. The workshop lasts 3 hours. For the first hour the model holds each pose for 2 or 5 minutes and then holds four 25 minute poses during the last 2 hours. The drawings I make during the workshop I never consider "finished"  since that really isn't the point of the activity. I go to practice drawing. It's awesome. The models are great. The poses are often really great and the focus in the room is palpable. The drawings I make are mostly meh or sometimes really funny when some areas are beautifully rendered and then some other aspect is totally off and out of proportion. Without time to make corrections I often end up with beautiful monsters and hope the model doesn't notice that I've given her a teeny tiny head, giant hands or miniature malformed feet. Getting over the notions of finished or perfect results is part of the practice. It's just draw, draw, draw and never mind the ego. That aspect works well with this Drawing Per Day Project so I will start posting at least one life drawing from the workshop when I can. Here is the first. Tonight's model is Jin.
